Flavorful, simple to make, and imminently adaptable, this is a gem of a recipe. I think it is improved by the addition of more soy sauce - perhaps a teaspoon - to bring out the flavor of the chili paste (and taming it a bit).

Easy and surprisingly good. Wait overnight before correcting the seasoning, and think hard about the effect you want. I added a bit of tamari as I was blending, and regret it - without that addition, the spread was surprisingly sweet, and I think might have been unusual enough to pop it into the Outstanding category. Definitely worth trying.

The flavor is very good, but in general this is not what I want in a chili. It is a Southwest-spiced beef stew featuring 4.5 pounds of meat for 6 portions. I added a cup of cooked pinto beans (3 cups cooked) for a ludicrously meager addition of starch. Today I'm cooking 2 more cups of dried beans to add to the dish in hopes of making this chili more to my liking.

I'll use the spicings for a base to make another chili, with much less beef and no bacon (since I can't taste it at all). Either ground chuck, or chuck cut to a small square - maybe 1/2 inch across), or even shredded chuck, with lots of beans.

This is tasty, but needs work. It's too dry for starters (probably not a problem when cooked inside a bird) so I would recommend moistening it with stock before baking. Additionally, while the mix of breads (1/3 white, 1/3 whole wheat, 1/3 cornbread) is very nice, it's not really what is promised in the name of the dish. I may bring it up to 2/3 cornbread and 1/3 wheat the next time I make it.

Very substantial, a nice dish. I served it as a main course.

I was afraid these would be too sweet and too clove-and-cinnamon-y (the raw dough was almost impossible to resist) but the baked cracker is not too sweet and the spices add just a note instead of dominating. Easy and delicious - I will make these again.

This dish benefits from a little more chile than I'm currently using, but either way, it's quite good - and relies on staples, so it's an easy fix when you haven't been able to get to the store.

This is tasty and simple, using only staples (if curry powder is a staple in your spice cupboard). I will make this again.

A very nice change from the standard sweet and sour profile of most red cabbage dishes. The predominant flavor in this dish served hot is curry - I couldn't taste the cranberry or ginger at all.

The meatballs were problematic, but that may just be my inexperience in making them. Mixed in with the sauce, there was too much meat to liquid, so add another can of tomatoes if this happens to you. Nicely flavored, but nothing to write home about.
