San Francisco urban beekeeping

» Here's a superficial but interesting article about urban beekeeping in San Francisco. More common than I would have thought. I'd love to do this someday.

I had a bee hive one summer that I kept in an old wooden soda pop case with a piece of plywood over it. I'd spend hours just watching them do their dance and then for some reason the hive started shrinking and they died off.

This was in the 70's so I am not sure if it would have been the mites that seem to be killing them off now or just bad luck.

I only got stung once and never had a smoker or a netted hat.
