.: Stumbling on Happiness

» Stumbling on Happiness, Daniel Gilbert
Extremely interesting, entertainingly written, with a completely unsatisfying ending. Predicting whether you'll want to eat pretzels based on other peoples' experiences is completely different from asking other people to predict whether you'd like being a writer, or living in Maine. There have to be some similarities between you and the person you query, or you could end up with a complete mismatch. If he hadn't promised the key to happiness at the end of the book—or if he had taken a more thoughtful approach to the research on predicting satisfaction—I wouldn't have been disappointed. [ 11.02.06 ]
